Over ten years ago, we—Dr. Alison Sky and Dr. Fiona Ocean—stood at the edge of the Arctic, wide-eyed with wonder, collecting data as young marine scientists on a mission to understand this frozen frontier. Now, we’ve come full circle…
We’re beyond honoured to have been selected as official ambassadors for the BIG ACE Arctic Climate Expedition—a once-in-a-lifetime mission to the top of the world, alongside one of our greatest ocean heroes: Dr. Sylvia Earle.
A Legendary Birthday. A Legendary Mission.
This year marks Dr. Earle’s 90th birthday, and she’s celebrating in the most epic way possible: leading an international team of 100 scientists, artists, educators, and changemakers to the Arctic.
Sylvia has been our lifelong idol—a fearless explorer, ocean protector, and the ultimate “Her Deepness.” As twins who grew up paddling the Jurassic Coast of England and dreaming about saving the oceans, being part of this expedition with her is a dream come true.
What We’ll Be Doing in the Arctic
This isn’t just any trip. We’ll be:
-
Going on science patrols to monitor and collect vital data on Arctic marine life like seals, whales, and walruses.
-
Collecting vital data on plastic pollution, melting ice, and climate change.
-
Kayaking through icy waters, getting up close to polar bears (from a safe distance!).
-
Sharing the science in real-time with YOU—our Ocean Hero community.

Why the Arctic Matters (and Why You Should Care!)
The Arctic is one of Earth’s greatest climate guardians. It’s not just a snowy wilderness—it’s a giant freezer that helps regulate the temperature of the whole planet. When it melts, sea levels rise, weather patterns shift, and wildfires, floods, and storms grow stronger across the globe. That means the Arctic isn’t just far away—it’s deeply connected to your school, your home, your future.
The Arctic is changing fast. Like… really fast. Here’s what’s happening:
-
It’s warming four times faster than the rest of the planet.
In 2024, sea ice hit one of its lowest levels in history.
-
Polar bear populations are in steep decline as they lose the sea ice they need to hunt and survive.
-
Plastic has even made its way to the deepest parts of the Arctic Ocean.
When the Arctic suffers, we all feel it. But when we protect it, we protect life everywhere.
Arctic-Inspired Adventures Are Coming to You!
We’ll be creating brand-new educational tools, STEM kits, and ocean-safe swim wear inspired by what we see and learn up north. Think: polar bear puzzles, ice-crystal science experiments, and storytelling straight from floating ice!
So whether you’re 3 or 12 (or 90 like Sylvia!), the Arctic will be coming to your living room, classroom, or beach bag soon.
Ocean Heroes. Arctic Ambassadors.
This journey is about more than data. It’s about inspiring the next wave of Arctic ambassadors and Ocean Heroes—kids like you who will grow up protecting the wild, wonderful world we all share.
Because the Arctic doesn’t just belong to scientists or polar bears…
It belongs to all of us.
So stay tuned. We’ll be broadcasting live from the Arctic, sharing stories, sounds, science, and surprises from the icy edge of Earth.
The Arctic is calling. Let’s go answer it—together.
