Blue-Hearted Twins: The Co-Founders’ Story – Double the Splash to Save Our Blue Planet
Meet Dr. Alison Sky Simmance and Dr. Fiona Ocean Simmance— twins, ocean explorers, marine scientists, and proud mums with saltwater in their souls. Born with blue hearts and wild curiosity, their lifelong love affair with the ocean began before they could even walk. Fast forward through decades of diving, researching, and world-saving adventures, and these twin sisters have made waves on every coastline imaginable.
From icy Arctic missions to coral counting in Madagascar, from sea turtle rescues in Southeast Asia to sandy conservation work in the Middle East, Europe, and beyond—they’ve worked with presidents, fishermen, school kids, indigenous communities and even the United Nations. Coral reefs, sea turtles, whales, dolphins, seagrasses, mangroves, even the high seas—you name it, they've helped protect it.
Ocean Hero Club was dreamt up back in 2011 on a special expedition to the magical island of Madagascar. After months spent living on a remote island helping establish a marine park to save endangered marine life, the twins found themselves immersed in the beauty of nature and the warmth of the local communities. One day, after tirelessly snorkelling to count coral and sea turtle nests, they joined local children playing on the beach and sailing their traditional boat—the pirogue. As the sun dipped below the horizon, a spark was lit. They realised they wanted to protect the ocean not just for science, but for these children—and for children everywhere.
That moment became the birth of Ocean Hero Club—a joyful, mission-driven brand created to empower the next generation of ocean heroes. Through sustainable beach gear and STEM-powered play, the club inspires kids to explore, love, and protect our oceans—with curiosity in their eyes, wild and free spirits, salty smiles, sandy toes, and hearts full of love for our ocean.

Meet Dr. Alison Sky and Dr. Fiona Ocean – twin sisters with blue hearts! Growing up on the fossil-rich shores of the Jurassic Coast in Dorset, England, and the wild waves of the Irish coastline, they were always knee-deep in seaweed, exploring tide pools, and imagining underwater kingdoms. That childhood curiosity grew into a mission to protect the ocean.
